Working on 2D and 3D arts projects and installations Mural works on a commission basis, using oil on canvas, lighting, found objects and printing techniques.

 

September 2018 to present Lead Artist on a number of council funded murals in the city of Hull. I have been selected to paint at the Akumal Arts Festival Mexico.

 

September 2018Lead Artist and Production, 'Don't Give Up on your Destiny' a film and Soundscape remembering the life of Hull KR and Great Britain Captain Roger Millward, commissioned by City Care/ SharedAgenda (part of the Sewell group).

 

July 2016/September 2018

Station Manager West Hull FM, a Ofcom regulated community radio station.

 

August/September 2017

Freedom Festival Production Team, working with Mammiallian Reflex Diving, delivering 'Hair cuts for Kids' arts installation.

 

May/June 2017  Lead Artist/Producer Terrace Enders Project Hull 2017.

Design and production of two iconic murals to celebrate and commemorate the rich history of the fishing industry.

 

September 2016 Producer Freedom Festival Bijou Circus 'Umbrellas'

March 2016/2017 'We Play' (A Goodwin Trust ACE Funded Residency)delivering a series of workshops building on trust with the residents and developing ideas from last year.

April   2016/May 2016  Artist Hull2017 Team employed to engage with the visiting public during the 'Hull2017 roadshows'.

August 2015 to September 2015 Freedom Festival Production Team/ Artist. Delivering  a multi agencie audience development program for Walk the Plank/Goodwin Development Trust/Polyglot and 'Tangle'.

 

October 2014 to July 2017

Our Space/ Estate of the Nation(A Goodwin Trust ACE Funded). Artist Residency, embedding the artist in the wider community on a inner city estate, normalizing the arts and making the arts accessible within a deprived and hard to reach inner community, working in a multi-agency environment I was delivering a workshops/ creating installations / painting murals over a 36 month period, resulting in a series of installations.

 

2011 to 2016 KAG Network Development Coordinator

Working with the gallery officer, the post is to make connections to the wider arts / commercial organizations both locally and national, opening up opportunities for all group members and the gallery and to provide links for the long term future of the gallery/group.

To take a fresh approach to the longterm finance of the Gallery and KAG.
Using my commercial background and network.
Ensuring the gallery is used to full effect and reacting to the street and the Cities program of events.

 

2011 to 2016 Founder Member and Director of Humber Street Arts Quarter Ltd
The creative enterprises on Humber St. formed HSAG to build on the idea to create Humber St. as the Arts Quarter for the city, forging strong links with the other galleries and businesses , to apply for grants and have a uniformed approach to the success of Humber St.

Arts Projects

 

02/2011 to 07/2011 Project Manager For the refurbishment of 26/27 Humber Street

Negotiating a budget /grant with the council and Nps , building a good working relationship over the16 weeks of the refurbishment.
Managing the Design and build process on a daily basis,
Liaising with both regeneration team within the council, the contractors and Kag members to deliver a finished product.
Managing and finding acceptable solutions to the design and build in real time.
Ensuring all trade understood and carried out the works to the standards of the council and be fit for purpose
Ensuring that all the trades were aware of site rules/health safety.

 

2009 to 2011 Gang of four
joined a focus group within KAG to drive forward a grant application to the arts council and also bid for a Gallery space on Humber street, taking on the responsibility for pushing the Humber Street project forward .Reporting back to the main body of the group at regular meetings.

 

2009 to 2010 Workshop provider
running a 2D/3D workshop for the Salvation Army at the William Booth House for the Homeless
managing the lesson plans/ budget /health and safety/outcomes and evaluations.
This is an ongoing voluntary position, since starting six months ago we have had one show of the residents work.

 

2009 to present Visiting Lecturer in C.P.D
Working for Yorkshire Coast College and Hull College

 

1996 - 2004 Freelance Decorative Painter,
Self Employed I contracted my time to Original interiors over three years. After which I took on work directly from contractors and private clients during this time I worked extensively in Europe, based around Marbella, Spain . Working on commercial and domestic projects for companies such as; Marbella Club, Hotel Group Punto Romano, Cafe Del Mar.

 

1994-1996

Worked in India , based in Jodhpur, I kept busy exporting furniture and handicrafts back home, to London and Yorkshire, working with a local family run export company , I also acted as an agent, making contact with visiting buyers and negotiating on their behalf.
